Hungry Abandons the 'Skins

I am back! For the two of you who missed me in my almost year long hiatus I be attempting to get my blog up and running again.

Years of losing couldn't do it. Off-season after off-season of false optimism couldn't do it. Ridiculous cost of actually attending a game couldn't do it (though I never did attend one). As it turns out, the true depth of Daniel Snyder's greed could.

I have been a Redskins fan ever since I learned what 3rd and 7 actually meant, which coincidentally was the same year I moved to DC, and also the last time the 'Skins won the Super Bowl. Pretending that I am a real fan all these years has kept my loyalties with the 'Skins through it all-after all there is a special circle of Hell for bandwagon fans.

It was about midway through the season when I stumbled across this article and learned that Daniel Snyder is truly a greedy greedy bastard. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with the team getting their money for the rest of the current season, but do they really need to collect the whole length of the deal when there is such a massive wait list for tickets? It seems a bit excessive.

So midseason I officially renounced my allegiance and I am officially moving my down the beltway and tossing my loyalties to the Ravens. After all what other team is named after an Edgar Allen Poe poem? Also I am so frightened of Ray Lewis I wouldn't dare root for anyone else.

Hungry's Draft Reaction

Draft day is one of my favorite days of the year. Usually I end up drunk and depressed as I watch my skins make terrible decisions. Last year I was able to convince myself that we had a decent draft, despite the fact that we drafted a bunch of crappy offensive players with our first several picks. In fact our only good one was drafting Chris Horton in the 6th or 7th round.

This year started out better, as I watched the Raiders make the biggest mistake of the draft. I think Heyward-Bey will be a good player eventually, but what a stupid mistake to take him at #7 when he would have been around at 20 or later.

But the stupidity of the Raiders created some interesting movement, possibly resulting in the fall of Brian Orakpo right into our laps. He should be able to pick up the slack on the D-line and with the help of Haynesworth in the middle should be able to get double digit sacks-shoring up the lack of a pass rush we got out of Jason Taylor last year.

The rest of the draft was filled with a bunch of players I have never heard of but I do have some hopes for the corner we picked up later on out of Maryland. Kevin Barnes was thought to be a possible 1st rounder had his season not been derailed by an injury. I wont even pretend to know anything about the rest of our draft, but hopefully this years draft works out better than ours did last year.

Finally a Good Playoff System!

The NBA D-League has announced a change in their playoff system, according to ESPN. Here is how the new system works.

8 teams make the playoffs (3 division winners +5 teams with the best regular season records)
The top seeded division winner gets to choose which wild card team it wants to play. Then the second seeded division winner picks who it wants to play, and so on
The first and second round are one and done and the finals are a best of 3 series

How exciting a system is this?! Its a shame it is wasted on the D-League. Just imagine how awesome a selection Sunday would be if the top seeds in the NFL or NBA go to pick who they were going to play. Talk about bulletin board material.

Just when we thought we weren't going to hear much from TO until he throws a teammate under the bus again, VH1 goes and gives him a reality show. At first I thought well maybe that makes sense. I personally don't like him but he is one of the best receivers in recent history so maybe it could do some good to get his insights into the game right?

Of course I am right, but who the hell would watch that show? No one. But what people probably will watch is the train wreck (so VH1 assuredly hopes) that is TO's personal life. I encourage VH1 not to feed the beast that is TO's ego but since it is going to happen here is my list of likely episodes in no particular order.

1. TO overdoses again and we get to follow the journey to find someone to blame it on other than himself.

2. We get to sit in on a pitch session where TO bounces ideas about how best to toss Jason Witten under the bus for being Romo's favorite.

3. TO hires an acting coach to work on his crying on demand.

4. TO goes spandex shopping.

5. TO decides to cash in on his recent propensity to drop balls, and does a "Butterfingers" commercial.

6. Show is cancelled before the 6th episode.

Colbert Breaks Down Plaxico

I think we all know how ridiculous Plaxico Burress is and has been over his time in New York. He has been a great player on the field but has been a nightmare off the field. He was fined over 50 times by the Giants and has now been deactivated for the season and charged after an incident where he shot himself in the thigh. The worst case scenario puts him in prison for 15 years. Of course he will probably get off with a fine and community service.

Well last night Stephen Colbert broke down the situation. He starts talking about Plaxico about 1 minute into the clip.

Lesnar Stampedes Couture

First of all let me say I told you so. I posted Friday that Lesnar would beat Couture by ground and pound in the second round. So let me just take a moment to pat myself on the back.

Done.

Now lets talk about the fight. I have to admit I thought Lesnar was going to manhandle Couture, but the old man really showed me a lot he was able to put Lesnar up against the fence several times and get his wind back. He landed a couple good shots also. What was most impressive was his ability to stuff Lesnar's shots.

I was a little dissappointed with how the fight ended. The punch that dropped Randy just didn't look like it was that hard. To me it looked like a glancing blow, but then again even a glancing blow from a fist that big in the temple must hurt. Lesnar pounced on Randy like a rabid elephant and pounded him out.

The worst part about the fight is that I don't know that we will see Randy fight for the title again. I just can't see him having that many fights left in him at 45. Lesnar-Noguera should be a fascinating fight (yes I am predicting Mir gets destroyed)

Lesner Vs. Couture

This weekend the main event it the much ballyhooed matchup between Randy Couture and Brock Lesner. Last I checked Lesner is a slight favorite in Vegas and as much as I love Randy I have to agree.

While I think Randy has been great I just don't see how he can match up with Lesner. Randy is a good wrestler but he is not as good as Brock. Randy is nowhere near as strong as Brock either so I see Lesner ground and pounding Randy to death. I say Lesner in 2 rounds.

Those who support Couture will point to his experience and ability to gameplan. Well I don't know how you gameplan against a brick shithouse. If Randy was known for his submissions I could see him take Lesner down like Frank Mir did. But take a look at the video of that fight and see how Lesner was DESTROYING Mir until he got caught and submitted. Look at the incredible speed for a 300 pounder.

We Can Learn Tons From Our Forefathers-Even How to Drink

I thought myself and my buddies had done some stupid things drinking wise my last year or two of college. My biggest mistake was drinking a bottle of Cisco and a bottle of Nighttrain, and losing my motor skills, and running into a garage door (not in a car I mean actually running into a door) Thankfully I don't do that anymore.

However thanks to an article I stumbled upon on CNN I know now that kids today don't know how to drink. Here are the greatest historical drinkers ever. I'm not even including the Boston Tea Party cause you know they were hammerred.

1. Admiral Edward Russell's 17th-Century throwdown: The good Admiral threw the largest cocktail party ever. The drink of choice was "a mixture that included 250 gallons of brandy, 125 gallons of Malaga wine, 1,400 pounds of sugar, 2,500 lemons, 20 gallons of lime juice, and 5 pounds of nutmeg." To top that it was served in a huge fountain that had bartenders paddling around in it to serve it. Unfortunately they could only work in 15 minute shifts or they would pass out from the fumes. They took a week to drink the fountain dry.

2. The London Brew of 1814: Meux's Horse Shoe Brewery built a vat that was large enough to have 200 people eat dinner in it. After dinner they filled it with 4000 barrels of beer. Sadly the vat wasn't built well and it ruptured. This caused other vats to break and a Tsunami of 1.2 million gallons of beer raced out into the city "caving in two buildings and killing nine people by means of "drowning, injury, poisoning by the porter fumes, or drunkenness."

But it didn't end there as tons of Londoners raced out onto the street to drink directly off of it, so the Rescuers couldn't get to those in need.

3. The worst aftertaste in history: To preserve the the body of British Admiral Horatio Nelson he was stuffed in a vat of Rum. When the body got home they opened the vat to find it was empty. Apparently the crew couldn't go the trip without its rum so they decided to drink it anyway.

A Couple Delicious Pranks

Putting clear tape on a hocky players blades so he eats it when he tries to skate. Putting some kind of dead animal in a teamates locker, or in their car. Jacking someone clothes while they are in the shower and hiding them, soaking them, putting them on ice etc.. Plastic wrapping another teams underwear to a diving board. Freezing another teams underwear. Putting Icy Hot in a players jockstrap.

All of these are pranks that are more or less harmless and overall pretty funny (maybe not the Icy Hot) Well Last night The Ultimate Fighter took it to a new level. Team Noguera had been eating Lawler's (Team Mir) fruit platter. So in response Team Mir pissed in the fruit platter, which of course Team Noguera devoured. As if that wasn't hysterically gross enough in revenge for Team Mir eating Phillipe's sushi Team Noguera decided to spooge in it. Yep you read that right they SPOOGED in the sushi which of course got eaten and led to a lovely song being sung about eating semen. Then the next day the semen eater got destroyed by Phillipe in the Octagon.

I thought it was funny as hell, my fiance almost vomited. I challenge any of you to come up with a better bunch of sports pranks.

Most Devastating Madden Defeat Ever?

I like many of you love Madden. I especially love the franchise mode and every time I buy a version of Madden I will play through as many as 10 seasons-yes I'm a nerd. I have had my share of disgusting defeats at the hands of the computer but I think half the fun is having the difficulty high enough so every game is in doubt and I don't mind losing. So it is the rare time that I find myself resetting my system so the result is not saved.

Well yesterday it happened for the first time in years. My skins were in the divisional round of the playoffs against the undefeated Packers. It was apparent from the beginning that I had a long road ahead of me after throwing two picks and then being cursed with fumblitis and losing six of them in the first 3 and half quarters. Nonetheless with 1 minute left I got the ball back at my 15 with the game tied at 24. I had to use my last time out with 20 seconds left and about 7 yards outside of my kickers field goal range. I hit my TE over the middle for 12 yards with about 15 seconds left (plenty of time for a spike and kick) and then inexplicably Chris Cooley got up and wandered around the field for 13 seconds before he decided to run back to his position and time expired.

As if that wasn't bad enough I win the toss in overtime and get a huge return out of Rock Cartwright almost into field goal range when Rock fumbles for the first time all season. The Pack recovers and returns it all the way to my 25. I reset the machine while their winning kick was in the air.

So I ask you all have you ever suffered a more devastating defeat?

The following are the Hungry Actor's leaders in douchebaggery. Yes there are others so feel free to add your own. Normally Junie wouldn't make this list but since he inspired it he gets the 9th spot.

10. Junie Browning-Anyone who is watching The Ultimate Fighter this season knows what a douche this guy is. He is arguably the best lightweight on the show but he has filled his two episodes so far with fights in the house, throwing furniture in the pool, leaping into the cage to try to attack another fighter and throwing glasses of booze at other fighters in the house. Then at the end of his meltdowns he always breaks into tears.

9. Onterio Smith-Can you say "Original Whizzinator." Really only makes the list because of the comic value of his offense.

8. Nate Newton-Was a good NFL player then after he was done was arrested for having 213 POUNDS of pot in his van. The 5 weeks later he was busted with another 175 pounds of pot.

7. Bam Morris-Busted with coke plus 100 kilos of weed. These days he plays in the National Indoor Football League, which sounds worse than prison, where has been on more than one occasion. (Thanks for this one Dewey)

6. Chris Henry-Arrested 13 times in 3 years. Charges range from assault to drugs to drunk driving.

5. Pacman Jones-Most famously "Made it Rain" at a night club which led to an altercation where a man was paralyzed. Suspended an entire season and most recently was in volved in a fight with one of his own bodyguards.

4. Michael Vick-The man killed dogs.

3. Mike Tyson-Went to prison for rape. Bit off an Evander Holyfield's ear, and threatened to eat another fighters children. Nuff said.

2. Rae Carruth-Went to prison after hiring a hitman to kill his girlfriend who was pregnant with his kids. After her death he jumped bail and was caught hiding in the trunk of his car a state or two away.

1. OJ Simpson-After beating the wrap for the Goldmen murders (though losing the civil suit) OJ was out of the criminal spotlight. recently found guilty of kidnapping with a deadly weapon (possible life sentence), burglery and assault.

Honorable Mention: Have to add Joe Son to the list. If I had learned about his arrest for a kidnapping and participation in a gang rape I would certainly have put him in there at number 3 or 4. Joe is known for being a terrible MMA fighter and for playing Random Task in the Austin Powers movie. (thanks MMAmania for this one)

Man Loses Fantasy Football Then His Mind

This has been bouncing all over the blogosphere lately but I had to comment on it. A 35 year old man was arrested on Monday after threatening his roomate with a knife over his anger at his Fantasy league scoring. Allegedly he was so angry he told his roomate to move out when the roomate ignored him and continued to read his book, our fantasy champion slashed pages out of the book and proceeded to put the knife to his roomates throat.

This is easily the most ridiculous attempted murder since the Pillsbury Dough Boy attempted to kill Linda Burnett.

Maybe Flacco Isn't Wacko

I think it is pretty apparent that I am a Skins fan. But a little known fact about The Hungry Actor is that I love seeing the Ravens do well-just not as well as the Skins. I lived in Maryland when the Ravens moved there and was obligated to follow them and have became intrigued by the way they were putting their team together.

I definitely had multiple offseasons of jealousy when Ozzie was making smart trades, picks and signings and my Skins were floundering. After being reasonably happy with my Skins this offseason I turned my attention to the Ravens and I was perplexed by the drafting of Joe Flacco. The first round seemed kind of high to draft some unknown out of Deleware who couldn't even get any time at Pitt. I came to the conclusion that Ozzie simply could not evaluate talent at the QB position (see Kyle Boller, Elvis Grback, Tony Banks and aging Randle Cunningham and Steve Mcnair.)

I watched the game on Monday and I have to admit I was impressed. Flacco actually throws a good ball and despite being slow for the NFL he has a good ability to run with the ball as demonstrated by his 13 second play as well as that 30 yard TD frolic he had in the first game of the season. Give him a season or two and I think the Ravens might just be contendors again-if their defense can hold up.

So good job Ravens-may you win all your games unless you play the Skins.

Has Jason Campbell Taken the Next Step?

This is week 2 of my I told you so posts. After last week when I called out all the Jason Campbell haters I got a resounding response that the Skins had yet to play anyone. Jason Campbell's 100 QB rating 4 tds and no turnovers meant nothing.

So yet again I have to say I told you so and I am almost completely convinced that Campbell is the answer at QB for the Skins. He had another game with 2 tds and no turnovers and he led the skins over the Cowboys. Not only did he beat the Boys but the loss has sent TO into his team destroyer mode which makes me quite happy.

I also want to point out that the skins did this without Jason Taylor and had 2 scores called back due to Casey Rabach penalites.

It looks to me like Campbell has taken that next step.

So go ahead haters anddo your worst.

Jason Taylor Could Have Lost His Leg

We learned this week that Jason Taylor will miss his first game in almost a decade after having to have a pooling of blood in his calf. I was pretty irritated considering to me that sounded like a bruise. So imagine my surprise when I was watching First Take this morning and they had their Dr on to discuss the recent injuries and when they got to Taylor's calf injury he informed the world that not only could it have him out 4-6 weeks but had he waited to get it drained any longer he could have lost his leg.

Apparently the calf muscle is made up of compartments contained by a lining. And in rare cases like Taylor had the swelling expands as far as the lining will allow so blood cannot reach the muscles which results in the death of the nerves and muscle and possibly has to be removed entirely.

I wonder if he could have played with a peg leg like the chick in the picture.

Where Does Silva's Early Retirement Rank?

Yahoo reported today that Anderson Silva has said that he plans to retire within the year. This would be a huge blow to the UFC and a major shock to the MMA world. So it got me to thinking about the most suprising athlete early retirements and where Silva would rank. And yes I am aware that there are tons more than have made my list so feel free to share yours.

5. Ricky Williams-Ricky is back now but when he suddenly quit the Dolphins to be a full time pothead I don't know many who weren't shocked.

4. Vince Young-Obviously he hasn't retired but we have all heard the talk about him quitting after his latest meltdown. We also heard talk about it after his rookie year as well. Vince is apparently fragile but considering how amazing he was in college his potential retirement is still pretty shocking.

3. Anderson Silva-He is the best the UFC has to offer and while suprising it is understandable given his bad knees and the potential he has to earn tons of money now that he has joined Golden Boy.

2. Barry Sanders-Would be number 1 on the list but it was pretty well known how unhappy Barryhad gotten with the Lions. What was more suprising is that he never came back with another team.

1. Jim Brown-The only runningback that you can argue was better than Barry. Brown quit after 9 seasons when Art Modell told him to stop working on The Dirty Dozen and get his ass to training camp. Brown chose to retire instead. Quitting to finish a movie gives him the top spot.

Honorable Mention: Chase Hilgenbrinck-No one has heard of this New England Revolution defender but he makes the list because he retired to enter the Mt. Saint Mary's seminary. That kind of career shift earns him a spot on the list. Makes me wonder what kind of stuff he was into.

I Told You So!

After the Skins lost to the Giants with a terrible performance in week one I heard calls for Todd Collins. I was one of the few people I know to say that Campbell would be ok. That it was just one bad game and that he was going to come on strong. One person in particular said to talk to him again once the Skins were 0-3 and Campbell was on his way out. I responded that I would talk to them when the Skins were 2-1 and Campbell had stepped it up. I also said something about meeting them with bells on but that is another story.

So lets see who was right...Big surprise it's me! Through 3 games Campbell has a 95+ rating with about 600 yards and 4 tds with no picks. Not only that but he has been stepping it up in the the second half of games and coming through in the clutch. Of course Campbell has a few things to work out such as he seems to have been starting slowly in games, but I have faith that in a few more weeks he will be playing well throughout games and keep the Skins contending in the NFC East.

But for now it just feels great to see my Skins at 2-1 and to get to say to all the naysayers I Told You So!

Was I Wrong About Desean Jackson?

I have been pretty vocal on other blogs about how I thought Eagles fans were way off base in their love for Jackson. I saw statements saying he was going to be the best reviever in the league within the year, the top rookie from this years class, a future hall of famer and on and on and on.

I got ripped by Eagles faithful for saying while I thought Jackson was going to be a good player in the future I thought he would only be a decent player this year.

Last week against the Rams, Jackson had over 100 yards returning punts as well as 6 catches for over 100 yards. This led to any number of I told you sos from Philly fans. So my question now is, was I wrong? I say absolutely not. I stand by m statement that he will do some damage returning punts this year and finish with around 700 yards and 5 tds or so. I don't think that you can look at last week as proof that he is going to be amazing because it was against the god-awful Rams. Let Jackson have a repeat performance tonight and maybe I will change my tune.

Perhaps Tatum Bell Should Try a Conflict Resolution Class Instead

Recently Tatum Bell was released by the Lions in favor of former Bengal Rudi Johnson (who almost singlehandedly destroyed my fantasy team last year). I can understand why Tatum might be upset at Rudi but instead of doing what most of us would have done-yell at Rudi, punch Rudi, let the air out of Rudi's tires or order 20 pizzas to his house-Tatum decided to steal Rudi's luggage.

Let me repeat that incase you think you misread it. Tatum Bell stole Rudi Johnson's luggage on his way out of town. Bell claims it was an accident. I tend to believe it was only an accident that he got caught.

Why Shawne Merriman Shouldn't Play

Is that picture right there. It is Reggie Williams's-formerly of Dartmouth and the Bengals-right knee. ESPN's Jemele Hill reported on this and it is easily one of the best cases I have ever heard to take a season off.

We have all heard that despite two torn ligaments Merriman has decided to play through the pain this season. Williams made the same decision despite his doctors telling him of the possible consequences of microfracture surgery and the need for a prosthetic knee at some point. Williams decided instead to play for 3 seasons on his bad knee and has, since he retired, had 14 surgeries on his knee, four of which were to prevent amputation and has had multiple fake knees put in.

Now I won't rehash Hill's entire story because you can just click the link to get it, but suffice it to say that before I figured that Merriman must know what he was getting himself into but after just seeing that picture I have to say that either someone is not telling him the truth or he is the dumbest man alive.

Pitcher Banned for 40 mph Fastball!

Outside of the classic movie Rookie of the Year-"did he just say funky butt-lovin'?"- no one has ever struck out anyone with a fastball that speed. However in this case the pitcher in question is Jericho Scott a 9 year old from New Haven Conn. and his baseball league has decided-halfway through the season-that he throws too hard and is no longer allowed to pitch. His coach put him on the mound two other times and it resulted in the other team forfeiting.

On the one hand I understand the idea that one wild pitch will create a huge problem, but then again what kind of message does that send to little Jericho who has effectively been punished for being good. And how is a 9 year old supposed to understand it. Right now he is just upset that no one gets to play he said "I feel sad, I feel like it’s all my fault nobody could play."

What is Going on With the Browns?

I like many of us was completely taken in with the Browns' improbale rise last season. Especially since I was able to trade Kevin Jones for DA in my fantasy league. Going hand and hand with DA's rise was the huge improvement of Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards and the rejuvination of Jamaal Lewis.

But have you seen them this preseason? I know it is just preseason but the Browns' first team looks really bad. The defense looks as bad as it was last year and the offense has been sputtering. Last night the first team of the Giants managed to put up 38 points before the they were 3 minutes into the second quarter. DA was getting clobbered, Jamaal Lewis went no where and the Browns even managed to block one of their own punts for a safety.

I like many supposed experts thought they were set to make another jump this year. And maybe this can be written off as a preseason anomaly on par with the Steve Spurrier Redskins-but I can't help but worry about how bad the defense looks.

So I ask you all are the Browns just a one year number?

And if so when will we see Brady Quinn?

Here is my list of the most intimidating figures in sports (obviously in their prime). I am also limiting the players to ones who I can actually remember playing. Otherwise the list would be drastically different.

10. Kimbo Slice-before you scoff I am including him as a street fighter only. As an MMA fighter he is no where near the list but in a street fight he was intimidating.

9. Dewey Hammond-just look at the pic. Do you want to have a drinking contest against him?

8. Warren Sapp-in his prime he was a dominant player. Remember when he put Chad Clifton out for the season with a block?

7. Kobe Bryant-he's no Jordan but he is at that level where you are more surprised when he misses the last second shot.

Much to the chagrin of the American Mustache Society Jason Giambi has shaved off his slump busting stache. That got me to thinking what the best methods to break the bad karma of a slump are. Some of these people actually use and some of them simply should be used. Listed from lamest to smoothest.

10. Growing a beard-completely unoriginal and boring. Anyone attempting to break their slump this way deserves to be shipped to the minors

9. Mohawk-Anything that a high school kid does to piss off their parents is lame. Still better than a beard.

8. Shaving your head-Almost as lame as just growing a beard but at least this is liable to get the player in trouble with their wife. That earns the head shave a spot at 8.

7. Eating your way out of a slump-Tons of players have used it. Babe Ruth used to claim that "scallions are the greatest cure for a slump" One can only imagine the hilariously nasty things that players have tried.

6. Growing the stache-Would be lower on the list if people still rocked the stache. But since it makes you look like a porn star it gets more love.

5. Not washing underwear, pants, socks etc-Locks down #5 cause of the nasty factor.

'Skins start out looking good recovering an onside kick to kick of the Jim Zorn era.

The first drive of the new era ends with me needing a new pair of panties as Campbell starts out 2-2 with a beautiful TD to Randle-El on what looked to be blown coverage. I know I'm not supposed to get excited about a preseason game especially still in the first two minutes but f*ck that I am now more optimistic going into the season than ever before!!

Now for the first look at the 'skins D. No Peyton Manning but a dominating performance will still say a lot. Not a great first defensive series for the 'skins as they showed classic bend but don't break defense as they let the Colts march down the field without too much difficulty but managed to hold the Colts to a FG after just missing an interception opportunity.

The 'skins start their second drive from the 20 and gives us the first opportunity to really see what the offense is made of. I am curious to see what if anything our two new WRs can do if they get in the game with the first team. Again Campbell looks good making good throws but a breakdown in the protection puts Campbell on his back and the 'skins wind up punting.

The Defense comes back on the field facing Quinn Gray instead of Jim Sorgi. The 'skins continue to appear to have a soft coverage as the Colts continue to complete passes but with minimal RAC. It turns out to work again though the Colts bailed the 'skins out when Grey threw a 4th down pass far behind his receiver.

The 'skins come back out with Todd Collins at the helm and there really isn't much to see from Collins. Having been in the league as long as he has we know what he can do, whereas with Campbell. Though we did get a nice surprise with Todd Yoder making a couple nice grabs-though the 'skins didn't get very far. We are now truly into pre-season mode as more and more backups make their way into the game.

The 'skins D came back out for our last look at any semblance of a starting D. The 'skins managed to intimidate the Colts enough to the point that they snapped it out of the end zone for a safety.

From here I will only comment on highlights rather than drive by drive.

The Colts finally put one in the end zone on a nice pass from Grey to a player I have never heard of and have already forgotten. This play also may help solidify Reed Doughty's hold on the starting safety spot as Schweigart was late in his coverage.

Towards the end of the first half John Madden had a moment of brilliant commentary. When talking about the stadium and its retractable roof which allowed Tony Dungy to decide if he wanted to play in or outdoors Madden commented that it was a big competitive advantage. He was sure "how it was a competitive advantage but he would get back to us later with how"

The Colts kicked a FG at the end of the half after a pass interference call to end the first half to take a 4 point lead.

The big news to start the 2nd half is the impending premier of Colt Brennen. Before we get to see the Colt we got to witness a rather boring drive that concluded with another FG for the Colts.

Colt Brennan completed his first pass on a nice screen pass in his first play. Colt's second pass was a beautiful strike to Billy McMullen. With all the talk about his throwing mechanics he seems like he is trying to silence the critics. Brennan finished off the drive with another beautiful strike to Maurice Mason for the TD to tie the game.

We have a sighting of the Round Mound of Touchdown as Jared Lorenzen relieves Quinn Gray. Lorenzen didn't give us much to talk about other than a ground jarring scramble for a first.

Meanwhile Brennan continued to look excellent against subpar competition-validating spending a 6th round pick on him. He looks like he will be a good backup in a season or two and if we are lucky we can trade him. Brennan managed to hit Mason for his second TD of the game and the lead.

Late in the 4th Materrell Richardson returns an interception 40 yards to seal the win.

Redskins Highlights

Jason Campbell looks like he has continued his progress from where he left off where he left off when he got hurt last year. He was only out there for 2 drives but he looked spectacular. And perhaps just as important he took he first good hit since he got hurt which is always important to get that out of the way.
The starting offense overall looked good, sustaining good drives throughout the game.
The defense didn't look spectacular but considering they were without London Fletcher-Baker and Andre Carter and Jason Taylor I am encouraged by what they showed.
Colt Brennan showed he just might have what it takes to be an NFL player with a stellar performance against the 2nd and 3rd teams of the Colts
Reed Doughty missed one tackle that gave up a 1st down but made several good tackles while his competitor Stuart Schweigart was late on his coverage giving up a TD. Looks like one of the Hungry Actor's favorite deaf Redskins is still in the drivers seat to be starting.
Finally Marcus Mason got a lot of carries with neither Ladell Betts and Clinton Portis getting any carries tonight and like Brennan it looks like he just might be a player.
All in all I am feeling pretty good about the Jim Zorn Era.

"She" Just Can't Stay Away from Billy!

The on again off again couple is back! After a stormy breakup years ago when Parcells referred to Terry Glenn as "she" they got back together a couple years back in Dallas. Everything was happy in paradise until Bill got himself kicked out of the house. With his beloved Billy gone Terry couldn't function and was on the DL with a broken heart all year. Now at last things are happy again in paradise as Terry Glenn has reportedly signed with the Miami Dolphins. Lets hope that this time the marriage works out!

Doughty Plays With Only 4 Senses

When the Redskins drafted Reed Doughty out of Northern Colorado (a I-AA school) a few years ago they thought they were getting a decent athlete who did well in college against lesser competition. Not usually the resume that gets you drafted in any round (he was taken in the 6th). He was drafted because he is smart-and not just on the field. Doughty was a 3 year Academic All American to go with his high "Football IQ"

After a strong showing on special teams Doughty was thrust into the starting role after the death of All-Pro Sean Taylor and he did a good job. Now he has all but locked down the starting role this year after an off-season competition with Stuart Schweigert.

Now the few of you who are still reading are probably thinking who gives a flying f*ck. What makes Doughty an interesting story is that he has severe hearing impairment. His hearing is bad enough that when he is not on the field he wears hearing aids in both ears. When he first joined the 'skins the coaches couldn't figure out why Doughty was playing like a moron in practice. For a while they figured that he was just a stupid smart guy. Eventually one of the coaches saw that Doughty was trying to read his lips and they made him get a hearing test in which they learned that he had severe hearing loss. So when I read about this in the Washington Post today I was shocked. It is simply amazing to me that a player with lesser physical tools who can't even hear.

Pride or Money?

Everyone remembers the greatest scapegoat of the last decade-Steve Bartman. Ever since he interfered with that foul bal in game 6 he has been blamed for yet another Cubs collapse-despite the fact that they still could have closed out that game or even won game 7. But this is not why I am writing about Bartman.

Many of us would have taken their 15 seconds of fame and found some way to cash in, but Bartman has repeatedly turned down interview requests, book and tv movie deals in recent years. He even turned down an offer to be completely relocated to FL free of charge. Well now the most intriguing offer yet has been made-though not the most lucrative. All he has to do is show up to Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois and sign a single autograph on a picture of the infamous play.

Here is betting he turns this down to, and here is hoping that he does. I think that Steve Bartman is one of the single greatest Cubs fans ever. Lets not kid outselves anyone sitting there would have gone for that ball-but most of those people who have been hating on him all these years would have lept at. But Bartman has enough pride in himself as a Cubs fan not to cash in on one of the hardest moments in Cubs history.

Now with all that said-I would take the money.

Top 10 Ways to Make Affliction Bearable

The Hungry Actor is back. First of all let me apologize to my 17 readers for being gone so long. Tonight I went over to the Muffin to watch both the UFC fights and Affliction simultaneously on two screens. Anyone else who watched will understand when I say that Affliction is the TV a equivalent of white noise. It was on but I barely even noticed what was happening even when I was watching it. In short it was simply terrible. So without further ado here are my top ways to make Affliction bearable.

10. Replace the ropes with barbed wire. This will keep the fighters from letting themselves get pushed out of the ring-which happened over and over.

9. Put them in a triangle shaped cage. What could be more entertaining then watching a fighter get stuck in the corner of a triangle.

8. Make the floor of the ring out of Temperpedic Material-you could also make it like a giant water bed but that might be a safety risk.

7. Every half round throw a random object into the ring. This could be a bat or a rubber chicken-this would create a real life Smash Brothers.

6. Make the matches a Royal Rumble format. Send someone new into the ring to join the rumble every minute.

5. Make the ring move. Side to side, up and down, the possibilities are endless.

4. Two out of three. It's a shame when a superior fighter loses due to a lucky punch. And what could be funnier than watching a fighter step back into the ring still wobbly from being knocked out.

3. Put Mike Tyson in the ring. What could be more entertaining than seeing Tyson fighting again?

2. Tag team. It's the most entertaining thing in Pro Wrestling so it should be true for MMA as well.

1. THUNDERDOME!!

The bottom line is that the Affliction fights were dreadful, I didn't even have the stomach to stay for the main event it was just that dreadful. I think the real answer is that the only real way to fix Affliction is to never air it again.

Hungry Actor UFC Exclusive

Exclusive to the Hungry Actor we have a recap of Rampage's devastating and controversial loss to Forest Griffin tonight. Here we have Yardbarker's Pelechati and Oflarity from the Sports Muffin. The Hungry Actor decided to stay behind the camera for this one.

Personally I thought Rampage won the fight. I had him easily winning Round 1, obviously losing round 2-but I did not think Forest did enough after hurting Rampage's knee to warrant a 10-8 win, then I thought Rampage took rounds 3 and 4 by landing cleaner and more damaging shots. I thought Round 5 was a toss up but again I thought Rampage edged Forest out. Either way it was easily the best fight that I have seen in a long time and I can't wait for the rematch.

The only other highlights of the night was the incredible submission by Joe "daddy" Stevenson to save himself from losing, and Melvin Guillard's assassination of Dennis Silver. Other than that I think I was alone in the room by enjoying the Almeida/Cote fight.

Next time The Hungry Actor will step in front of the camera.

This is Horrible-Ha Ha Horrible That Is

The sad thing is the fight is still better than both Kimbo's and Kalib Starnes' last fight. The sadder thing is that the fight lasts as long as it does-how come he can't knock this kid out? The saddest thing is that the MMA fighter was willing to take the fight.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the the owners of two utterly ridicuous things. The first is a starting QB named Brodie Croyle. The second is a "Fan Code of Conduct." Rule number 2 under this code of conduct is a ban on standing during the game. That's right you are not allowed to stand up during a Chiefs game.

According to the Shutdown Corner this code of conduct was written by an 85 year old second grade teacher. I am not even going to comment on the ridiculousness of that. And if you thought this couldn't get any lamer there is a system in place which allows you to tattle via text message to the authorities.

Jamison Resigns. Gilbert Next?

In a great move the Wiz officially have locked up Antawn Jamison to a 4 year 50 million dollar deal. This not only brings Jamison's 20 and 10 back to the team but also the strongest leader on the team.

Equally important is the fact that this also opens the door to resigning Gilbert Arenas who earlier in the season said that he would only resign if Jamison did-and what is more that he would be willing to take a pay cut to keep Jamison.

The question is how much will it take to resign Gilbert especially now that Baron Davis has opted out of his deal and Golden State may be in the Gilbert market. If Gilbert had not been hurt most of this year then he would certainly command something in the 6 year 100 million range but I am not sure that the Wiz will want to throw down that kind of money on his shakey knee. And if that was not enough to complicate things Gilbert is leaving the country of a promotional tour on Tuesday which obviously puts a twist on things since Gilbert is acting as his own agent this year.

We have two of the big three back lets hope we can keep the third.

Edit: The Washington Post is reporting that the Wiz are close to offering Gilbert a 6 year 100 million dollar deal.

Ostrich Racing. The Next Big Thing.

How come this can fill a stadium but the Indiana Pacers only managed to fill 66% of theirs this past season? The answer is that obviously Ostrich racing is the next big thing. Just look and listen to the size of the crowd. Horse racing is dying a slow steroid injected death and something is going to have to fill the void. So why not Ostrich racing? We have all heard people say that the losing horse is going to be sent to the glue factory well this is even better-have you ever had an ostrich burger? The Hungry Actor sure has!

Yes there are a few kinks to be worked out, like making sure they run the right direction, and the saddles need a little work to keep the jockeys on-but all in all this has the makings of something big.

In honor of Brandon Inge's recent injury while moving a pillow I thought I would put together my list of the most ridiculous sports injuries. I am sure there are tons that I don't know about but here are my favorites.

10. Brian Griese trips over his pet poodle and sprains his ankle.

9. John Smoltz burns himself while ironing a shirt he was wearing.

8. Tom Glavine breaks a rib while vomiting up an inflight meal.

7. Brandon Inge pulls his oblique while readjusting a pillow on his couch.

6. Glenallen Hill, an extreme arachnaphobic had a nightmare about spiders and while fleeing the spiders he fell into a glass table and received multiple cuts over his entire body.

5. Denny McLain goes to sleep in good health and wakes up with four dislocated toes.

4. Muggsy Bogues misses the second half after accidentally inhaling the fumes from an ointment being used in a halftime treatment.

3. Adam Eaton stabs himself in the stomach with a paring knife trying to remove the packaging of a DVD.

2. Clarence "Climax" Blethen thought he looked meaner when he pitched without his false teeth in. Unfortunately for him he left them in his back pocket while sliding into second and he bit himself on butt.

1. Bret Barberie failed to wash his hands, after making nachos with hot sauce and chili peppers, before he put in his contact lenses. The extreme burning cause him to miss one game.

Honorable Mention: Chris Hanson misses while chopping wood and severely cuts his leg landing himself on the DL for the season; Lionel Simmons developed tendinitis from playing too many video games; Manny Cordova falls asleep in a tanning bed and receives burns so severe he has to miss time; Sammy Sosa sneezes multiple times in the clubhouse prompting a series of back spasms which puts him out of the lineup.

WHAT!!! Cheating in Horseracing!

In the second story about steroids in sports in the past couple days Big Brown's trainer Rick Dutrow has been suspended for using more than the legal limit of a drug on one of his horses. Dutrow you will remember made news after winning the Preakness and Kentucky Derby for his use of steroids on his horses-though only in states that allowed it.

While I don't have a problem with athletes using supplements that are legal I have a different feeling about trainers giving them to horses-simply because the athletes can say no the horse can't. And if any of you saw the interviews with Dutrow you know that he is a total wanker-so here is hoping he gets hit with a good long suspension.

Hall of Fame QB Used 'Roids

In a not too surrising developement Terry Bradshaw revealed that during his playing days he used steroids to speed up recovery from injuries. He claims to not have used them to get bigger or faster etc.

Some New England fans will now claim that all their championships need asterisks next to them. Though I would argue that you cannot claim a team was cheating by using steroids even though Bradshaw admitted it because at the time it wasn't cheating. In the 70's the stuff that they were taking were not banned by the NFL. In fact I would not be surprised at all if all the teams back then were using them.

The Hungry Actor Takes the Plunge

On Sunday the 20th the Hungry Actor officially took himself off the market-sorry ladies. After two and half years I took the plunge and got engaged. I wont bore you with the details of it but needless to say she said yes.

Talkin 'Bout Kimbo Slice Part II

A few weeks back I wrote about Kimbo Slice and his pros and cons and while I didn't think he was the real deal yet I thought he was on his way if he kept training. Then we finally got to see the fight and we all learned what many of you have long suspected-Kimbo was terrible. It was simply an awful fight that Kimbo may or may not have really lost (I don't think Thompson was doing enough damage to warrant a stoppage myself).

I knew going in the Thompson was a bum, but I expected Kimbo to knock him out in the first minute, instead as many of you saw the fight was stopped in the third when Kimbo exploded Thompson's revolting cauliflower ear. Even before that he looked awful, he was completely gassed by mid way through the second round and when he did win he collapsed on the ground and looked like he might have a heart attack. It was pathetic.

So all in all I felt like a moron for ever writing about Kimbo-but then I learned something interesting. A ton of people are now actually interested in MMA because of that awful, awful fight. I was in a sports bar the night of the fight and sitting at the table near me was an older woman who had never even heard of MMA. She started asking me all kinds of questions about Kimbo and at first I thought I was being mocked because of my excitement but I learned from a mutual acquaintance that she had since on her own done tons of research about MMA and Kimbo and consequently was now addicted. Hopefully it is only a matter of time before she starts watching some good MMA and there is another fan out there.

Being totally amazed by this I asked around and the consensus is that people who don't know anything about MMA were amazed and intrigued simply because on national TV he "exploded some dudes ear."

So all in all I have to change my opinion of Kimbo's role in the MMA world. I am no longer of the opinion that he was a waste of time but rather I think he may just be a good thing for MMA. For whatever reason he makes people want to watch when he fights. And while I can't condone watching him fight it can only be a matter of time before those who watch to see him, start to watch real fighters.

Not Sure if This is a Sport But it is Awesome

It is called Sport Stacking. Considering it is called "Sport" Stacking it made me wonder if this is actually a sport. So being the total dork that I am I looked up the word sport and the first definition is an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature. It certainly takes skill and physical prowess but I am just not sure if it qualifies as athletic.

Don't get me wrong do it for an hour straight and you would probably work up a sweat-especially if you are in my shape-but I am not sure I buy it being athletic. That being said it is freakin cool to watch, but I am going to go with it being a game and not a sport.

Only Grove or Tanner Will Get Out of Their Holes

The main event this Saturday in the Ultimate Fighter Finale features former Ultimate Fighter Winner Kendall Grove vs former UFC middleweight champ Evan Tanner.

Kendall Grove was undefeated in the UFC until he got violated by Patrick Cote in UFC 74. Grove looked to bounce back against Jorge Rivera in UFC 80 and this time the difference was he was TKO'd rather than being KO'd. Now he faces the possibility of being the second Ultimate Fighter winner to be given his marching papers from the UFC.

Tanner is a much more ridiculous story. He won the UFC middleweight title at UFC 51 only to then lose it to Rich Franklin at UFC 53 where he was annihalated. And from their it got wierd for Tanner. The story is he drank and blew away all his winnings and that was culminated with him drunkenly sinking his 1939 boat. Now he comes back to the UFC without any sponsors to try to get himself back on track.

Whoever wins the fight stays in the UFC the loser is gone. My bet if Tanner can avoid the doctors stopping another one of his fight (he has lost several due to getting bad cuts) I think he stops Grove. Thus opening the door for Grove and Travis Lutter to tag team Khalib Starnes and Kimbo Slice at the next Elite XC.

Raiders WR Attacked in Vegas

Raiders WR Javon Walker was found unconscience in the streets of Las Vegas Monday morning. Reported injuries are a fractured orbital bone.

Most of us questioned the signing of Walker by the Raiders this offseason to the kind of contract he got. But of course I don't think anyone saw him as the type to get himself into this kind of situation. He hasn't been a player with character issues in the past so I guess we will just have to wait and see if he brought this on himself or if he was the victim of a Paul Pierce type of crime.

Here is a great collection of knockouts I stumbled across. My favorite of the video might just be the first one. Nothing like knocking someone out from your back. And even though it isn't in the video I have to throw some love to Matt Brown's knockout of Jeremy May on this seasons Ultimate Fighter. There are a couple face kicks like Matt's on the video but Jeremy May is a douche so it was very satisfying.

And notice how much longer the refs tended to let the beatings go on in the old UFC.

Gamers Sue EA Games Over Madden Football.

Last week a pair of gamers sued EA, accusing them of cornering the Football gaming market, and as a result had an unfair advantage over competitors. If you all remember in 2005 NFL 2K5 came out at a price that was less than half of what Madden costed. 2K5 immediately sold several million copies and EA was forced to drop their price to $30. The next year EA signed a deal that gave them exclusive rights to players names and effectively killed the 2K franchise. The next year Madden was back at its original price and there has not been a drop since.

We all know that EA has a complete monopoly on sports gaming but my hat is off to these two gamers who decided to try and do something about it. Do I think they will win? No. But maybe just maybe they will and then we all can enjoy our yearly Madden roster updates for less.

During a recent jewell heist in Massachusetts thieves made off with a 1,000 pound safe, through a hole in ceiling no less, including many of the Giants' staffers superbowl rings. I just want to know how do you fence one of those. It's not like you can take one to a pawn shop because not even the most moronic pawnbroker will touch one of those (thats how the guy who killed Michael Jordan's dad got caught) and it's not like they can wear it around.

Suns Coaching Search is Over

After weeks of speculation the Suns have concluded their coaching search with a somewhat surprising choice-Terry Porter. Terry Porter had a two year stint as the coach of the Bucks and I thought he did a good job and they should have held onto him for another year or two.

I am not sure that Porter is the best choice for the Suns but I am thrilled to see him get a second chance after he got the short end of the stick last time around.

Ronnie Craven was recently exposed in running one of the all time sleaziest and hilarious (in a horrible way of course) women getting schemes ever. While on an internet dating site Craven claimed to a woman to be former Magic player Jeff Turner, and currently a member of the Sonics front office.

I know what you are thinking "Oh he just got himself caught up in a lie and went with it." Actually you are probably thinking "What a f*cktard!" But just go with me here for a minute. Here is what Craven had to say about his actions. "I am going to be honest with you. I don't work for them. [It] was all brought on by an online dating thing. I lied to her. Does that mean I did it to get some sex? Absolutely." That gentlemen is the epitome of a classy dude, we should all model our lives after him.

I will leave you with another juicy nugget from Craven. When discussing a situation involving another woman that he lied to online he let is slip that unfortunately he "never tapped her."

Am I Evil for Laughing at This?

At last the NBA is attempting to do something about flopping. I am all for "selling a foul" but there is a fine line between that and the blatant flopping that Vlade Divac perfected in his prime. Currently the title of best flopper has to go to Manu Ginobili but I have to show some love to LeBron for his overacting in this years playoffs.

Who Knew the NHL Was the "No Fun League"

People have been complaining for years that the NFL has become a no fun league-which has worked great since the acronym fits. Well the title has officially been passed to the NHL which has banned the almost 60 year old tradition of Octopus twirling at Detroit Redwing games. The lamest commissioner in sports claims that there is a risk of "octopus gunk" getting on the players or the ice and is an injury risk. Really Gary? I mean really? Not even PETA is complaining about this one.

1. Jim Rome-I have chosen to watch Family Feud and Judge Mathis over his show. He is an arrogant prick.

Things Athletes Do That Drive Me Crazy

I love sports and spend way too much time watching it or reading about it. But there are a couple things that pro athletes do that drive me crazy. I think they are pretty self explanatory. What are yours?

1. Talking about themselves in the 3rd person.

2. Acting (whether it be exaggerating a foul, penalty or flopping)

3. Phoning it in.

4. Breaking the law.

5. Demanding for trades or new contracts when the already make millions.

Suspend Belichick?

All the info is finally out. We know that Belichick has been cheating for years. He didn't do all the things that were reported and it can be argued that knowing some defensive plays might not matter. As Phil Simms said in an interview that back in 1980 they knew every play the Chargers were going to run, and they still got 44 put up on them. Interestingly enough Bill Belichick was on that staff as well.

The Commissioner has been tough on players since he took the reigns, handing down several suspensions, so why hasn't he suspended Belichick? The rule about Steroids is very clear-don't use them. The rule about taping is very clear too-don't do it. The rules are in place to keep players and teams from getting unfair advantages so I think Goodell needs to lay down a suspension on Belichick. Some journalists have called for a season long or even a lifetime ban. I think that is a bit much but I see no reason not to suspend him for 4-8 games.

Steve Kerr has said that he is going to take his time in hiring a new coach. So it's a perfect time for us to postulate as to who he might hire, and more importantly who we want him to hire.

Kevin Everett Gets Released and Paid

The Bills released Kevin Everett today after failing a physical (the result of breaking his neck last year). This would seem to be a terrible thing to do considering the magnitude of this injury last year. But since they kept him on the roster all last year, his third in the NFL he qualifies for $224,000 a year in disability plus, a one time payment of $75,000 and another 1,410 as a player pension. It is good to hear that the NFL is treating an injured player right for once after all the stories the past couple years about the NFL abandoning its former players.

The Best High School Athlete in Texas

Is Bonnie Richardson. She was the only member of her high school track team to qualify for the state tournament and she managed to place first in the high jump and 200 meters, followed by second place finishes in the 100 and long jump, she added a third place in the discus for good measure. This was all enough to earn earn her team 42 points, which was enough to give Rochelle High School a first place finish.

Most impressive athletic feat ever? Probably not. But I can't remember hearing about something that was more impressive any time recently. Congratulations Bonnie!

Where is the Hate for Kobe?

I saw an interesting article this morning looking at the difference between Kobe and Chad Johnson, in light of their both asking for trades and how they are viewed by the media. Mike Freeman of cbssports writes "You say the difference [between Kobe and Chad] is Johnson's a showboat and Bryant isn't. Well I see you one showboat and raise you a rape charge."

Now I have never been a Kobe fan, I have always thought he was selfish and I liked him even less after the rape charges came out-whether he raped her or not doesn't matter to me. I have seen his wife and why the hell would he sleep with someone else period, whether it was consensual or not? It makes me question his intelligence. But I digress.

I think Freeman made a great point that we are quick to jump on a player for putting himself before the team like Chad has done and Kobe did this past summer, and before that when he ran Shaq out of town, and every time he was the quintessential ball hog. But how come as soon as Kobe's team starts to win he is given the MVP trophy and is suddenly wonderful. If Chad plays this year and leads the Bengals to the playoffs or catches for 1800 yards will he be back in the good graces of the media?

So let me be the first to send some hate Kobe's direction.

Am I Supposed to Feel Sorry for the Birdman?

Most of you probably remember Chris "Birdman" Anderson, from the slam dunk contest a few years back, when he attempted a dunk a dozen times or so. Not long after he was suspended for failing a couple drug tests. I just finished reading an article on espn talking about Anderson's childhood and road to the NBA.

His story starts out as one of success as he managed to overcome some stupid mistakes and bad grades to work his way into the NBA via a Chinese pro league and the D-League. What followed was an incredible display of stupidity. He proceeded to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on booze, and on various hangers on (for example he spent 10,000 bucks on a girlfriends purse), yet he wouldn't send his almost destitute mother anything that he had promised. Now that he is back from his suspension he appears to still be the same low class moron. His favorite hangout is Hooters where he makes comments like he wants "fresh squeezed milk" to drink. Check out the article and decide for yourself but if it was intended to make me feel for the "Birdman" then it failed. All it did was make me sad that someone like him has millions of dollars. It's a shame David Stern doesn't start banning players for being wastes of flesh.

I Want to Know Who This Guy Beat

Supposedly this guy sports a record of 200-0 using his mystical Kiai powers. He challenges any MMA fighter to a fight for $5000. After watching the beginning of the video it almost makes you think that maybe he has a chance, lets just say my mind is changed very quickly. What is even more depressing is that he seems to think his powers will work. Though I do still think he could take out Kalib Starnes. Check it out here.

Captain Quirk Confirms that He Will Only Resign if Jamison is Back

Gilbert Arenas has reconfirmed that he will only consider resigning with the Wizards if Antwaan Jamison is resigned as well. This follows on the report a few months back that Gilbert would be willing to resign for less if Jamison needed more.

I think this is great news for Wizards fans! Jamison has proved that he is indespensible to the Wiz. When Gilbert went down, then Caron Butler went down Jamison stepped up his game and turned in career numbers. Not to mention he was the one to tell one of my favorites-DeShawn Stevenson-to just shut up and play. Also if Gilbert stays true to both his statements this will force the Wiz to pay Jamison, because the front office certainly does not want to lose the face of the organization in Gilbert.

The next question is are the Wiz better off without Gilbert? I would argue that we are better off without a less than 100% Gilbert. We certainly have better ball movement when he is not in there as Gilbert needs the ball to be effective. But when he is healthy he is able to create and that opens up the offense in different ways than better ball movement.

The End of Hack-a-Shaq?

ESPN has reported that instant replay usage and fouls away from the ball are going to be reviewed for next season. Any fan of the NBA for the past decade is familiar with the Hack-a-Shaq tactic. It slows down the pace of the game and is a bit quite possibly the lamest way to win a game ever. Also to be reviewed will be the use of instant replay, hopefully to avoid screw ups like the Chauncy Billups debacle.

Can Someone Explain How This Makes Any Sense?

Karl Malone openly acknowledges two of his illegitimate kids, but the one he had by the 13 year old when he was in college he wants nothing to do with. He made over 100 million in the NBA but he was not willing to pay $200 a week in child support when the paternity test proved it was his. Now his third child-Demetrius Bell-has been drafted by the NFL, lets hope he makes the team and earns himself national recognition even if his deadbeat father wont give him any.
